Stucco Site Walls & Details in Marietta

Monument signs, screen walls, columns and cornices are the first things people see at a Marietta property entrance. We build and repair them in stucco and foam with caps and flashing that keep water from getting in at the top.

Details that last

The entrance is the first impression

Drive Marietta’s commercial corridors and you pass dozens of stucco monument signs, entry columns and screen walls at shopping centers, office parks and apartment communities. They are freestanding, exposed on every side and capped with flat tops that collect water. When their caps crack or their bases sit in wet soil, water gets into the core and the finish starts to blister, stain and break away.

On the buildings themselves, the same thing happens to parapets, foam cornices, decorative bands and column wraps. These details give a facade its character, but they are often the least maintained parts of it.

We repair and build these elements as part of the envelope, not as decoration. That means sloped or capped tops with proper flashing, sealant where caps meet walls, bases kept above grade where possible, and foam shapes coated and reinforced so they hold their edges. Where an old sign wall or screen wall is too far gone, we can rebuild it on a sound base and finish it to match the property.

What we build & refinish

Commercial site walls and facade details

New work or a refinish, the same rule applies to every piece: give water a way off and out.

Screen & dumpster walls

Block enclosures for dumpsters, mechanical equipment and loading areas, stuccoed on both faces with sloped caps and impact-resistant bases.

Built for truck traffic

Monument & entry signs

Sign bases and monument walls for shopping centers, office parks and residential communities, finished to match the property.

First thing visitors see

Retaining walls

Block or concrete walls stuccoed on the face, with the soil side waterproofed and drained so ground water does not blister the finish.

Drained behind the wall

Columns & piers

Entry columns, canopy piers and storefront piers wrapped and finished, with the base held off the slab so it does not wick water.

Bases kept dry

Parapets & copings

Parapet walls rebuilt or refinished with the coping, cap flashing and roof-to-wall details that keep water out of the top of the wall.

Weak point on every roof

Cornices & foam profiles

Cornices, bands, window surrounds and tower details shaped in foam, reinforced with mesh and finished to match or contrast.

Sloped tops, sealed joints
Substrate first

Each feature needs its own build-up

Stucco on a block screen wall bonds to the masonry; stucco on a framed column, parapet or sign base needs a weather barrier and lath like a building wall; foam cornices and bands are a different system again. Using the wrong build-up for the substrate is a common reason a detail cracks or comes loose within a few years.

We look at what each wall or feature is made of, how it drains, what it gets hit by and where it meets the building, and we put what it needs in the written scope. If the work is part of a larger project, we can schedule it with a stucco installation or a facade recoat so everything finishes in one color.

Our process

How we build a wall or detail

Smaller pieces move faster than a full facade, but base coats still need time to cure, and work near drive aisles and entrances needs a plan.

Assess & plan

We look at the substrate, how water reaches the feature and where it ties into the building, then lay out caps, joints, flashing and site protection.

  • Substrate identified
  • Drainage & caps planned
  • Traffic & access planned

Prepare & build

Masonry is cleaned and dampened for bonding, framed pieces get barrier and lath, and foam profiles are shaped and set.

  • Loose material removed
  • Lath or bonding coat
  • Profiles set and reinforced

Coat & finish

Base coats go on and cure, then the finish is applied with color and texture matched to the building or set to the approved accent.

  • Coats cured properly
  • Texture matched by hand
  • Joints sealed

Cracking on a sign base, column or parapet?

We will find out why before refinishing it, so the new coat does not crack the same way.

Signs & walls in Marietta

Corridor frontage across Marietta

Monument signs and entry features along Marietta’s busy roads work hard for the properties behind them.

On roads like Cobb Parkway, Roswell Road, Powers Ferry Road and Delk Road, the monument sign and entry walls are how a center, office park or apartment community gets noticed. They also sit next to traffic, sprinklers and landscape crews. We see a lot of base damage and failed caps on these features. Sign changes and new monument structures may also need sign or building approval, so check with the city or county before we rebuild one.

Questions & answers

Site wall & detail FAQ for Marietta

What Marietta property managers ask about signs, walls and architectural details.

Do we need approval to rebuild a monument sign in Marietta?
Often, yes. Sign structures and their location are usually regulated, and the rules differ between the City of Marietta and unincorporated Cobb County. Check with the right office before the work is scheduled; a straight repair of the existing finish is a different question from a new structure.
Can you work on an entrance sign without closing our property entrance?
Usually. We set up on the property side of the sign and keep the drive open. If the work would put equipment near the road, we plan it carefully and confirm any needed approvals first.
Why do the tops of our columns keep cracking?
Flat stucco tops hold water, and it gets into hairline cracks and freezes in winter. A sloped cap or a metal or precast cap with proper flashing fixes the cause.
Can you repair foam cornices on our building?
Yes. We repair damaged sections, replace pieces that have absorbed water, and recoat with reinforced base coat so the profile stays crisp.
Can you build new screen walls for dumpsters or equipment?
Yes. We finish new screen walls in stucco to match the building and detail their caps and bases to keep water out.
